#KamiNampak is a youth-led campaign to ๐ต๏ธ monitor the use of the conflict rhetoric that incites race and religion issues by elected representatives. First conceived as a ๐ monitoring campaign during the Johor 2021 State Elections, #KamiNampak has employed ๐ youth volunteers to monitor the ๐ณ election campaigns in multiple elections.
The ๐ race or religion card is characterised as disinformation, misinformation and malinformation of a racial or religious group, falsely manufacturing or associating a political, economic or social threat, and emphasised use of oneโs own race or religion to ๐ garner support. Such political rhetoric is employed to highlight differences between people and opposition towards groups and ๐ฌ ideas. These ๐ฐ narratives blame various groups for social problems, reinforcing negative stereotypes, and may create ๐งจ demand for policies that harm a specific racial or religious group.
It is time for racial and religious sentiment in ๐ฒ๐พ Malaysian politics to be a thing of the ๐ past. This is necessary for our democracy to experience a more healthy and mature practice in campaigning and โ๏ธย governance.
